What does the trip cost include?

Trip costs include airfare, accommodation, ground transportation, travel insurance, breakfast, and some other meals. 

Who can participate in these trips? 
These trips are intended for graduate students in the Masters of Business Administration and the Masters in Applied Data Analytics programs at Appalachian State University. 

How to apply? 

  1. Fill out our contact form and let Dr. Chen know you're interested!


    • Go to

    • Select "Education Abroad" 

    • Select "Apply Now"

    • Follow the instructions on the Office of International Education and Development to fill out your application.

  3. Wait for a confirmation email from the Office of International Education and Development. 

When should I submit my application? 

Program application deadlines are listed on the Office of International Education and Development website. Programs are open until full. Once a program is full, the online application will be closed.


Appalachian State University reserves the right to cancel or alter the program format or to change costs in case of conditions beyond the university's control.

Are there any pre-trip meetings? 

Yes, before each trip there will be 3 mandatory in-class meetings to be scheduled by the trip leader.

How many credit hours do I have to take to be eligible for financial aid?

For the graduate level study abroad trips, students must be enrolled in the Masters of Business Administration or Masters of Applied Data Analytics programs at Appalachian State University. Once you are enrolled in the trip and submit your application, you will be eligible for financial aid. 

Will financial aid cover my deposit and airfare?

The student is responsible for paying any deposits required for study abroad programs.  Keep in mind that financial aid funds may not be disbursed to your student account until ten days prior to the beginning date of the study abroad program. Generally, you will need to plan to pay for these expenses from your own resources.
